Edith Ashbury

History:
Edith Ashbury was born to pureblood parents Laura and Peter Ashbury on a bright, cold January seventh morning in 1961 in Aylesbury, a small town. As an only child, and the first daughter in a long line of firstborn Ashbury sons, there was a little resentment and a lot of competition. All of her cousins who were anywhere near her age were male, but she was usually delegated to taking care of the younger cousins. This led to a resentment of small children as the ones who ruined all her fun while she was growing up. Although Edith's parents tried to have another child, they were unsuccessful, and Edith remained the only daughter.

Edith's relationship with her father was loving, albeit distant. He worked for the Ministry of Magic, and spent long hours working. Edith and her mother were both very stubborn, which led to arguments in which both would dig in their heels, and neither would apologize. Most of the fights went unsolved, and it would fall to Peter to arbitrate. He, being a diplomatic person, somehow allowing both women to walk away feeling as though they'd won.

On the morning of her eleventh birthday, Edith got her first piece of non-family owl mail. It was an invitation to attend Hogwarts. While not a huge shock, as both her parents had attended, it was still one of the few days where Edith and her mother didn't argue at all. There was a huge celebratory dinner, and then another nine months of waiting until she could go to school.

Once there, Edith found it easy to talk to people, but harder to maintain friendships. She forged a bond with her dormmates, especially Lily Evans. While she doesn't have anything specific against most Gryffindors, she does tend to righteously dislike a certain group of people on behalf of her friend, whether or not she actually thinks they're bad people.

However, while JKR owns everything the game is based on, and most of me, she doesn't own Edith. She wouldn't want to own Edith. Hell, sometimes I don't want to own Edith. But I do.
